Bristow speaks up for savers

South Tees Conservatives have urged the Government to help savers by reducing the tax they pay on their savings.

Middlesbrough South & East Cleveland Parliamentary Candidate, Paul Bristow was joined by local volunteers and local councillors in Guisborough on Saturday to encourage residents to sign a petition urging the Government to adopt Conservative proposals to reduce the tax on people's savings and increase pensioners' personal allowance.

Commenting, Paul Bristow said

"It has been savers, pensioners and those on fixed incomes who have been hardest hit by Labour's recession.  They have seen rises in the cost of living and income fall from their savings.  That is why we are calling on the Government, in the Budget, to abolish income tax on savings for basic rate taxpayers and raise the pensioners' personal allowance by £2,000 to £11,490."
