Innovation and imagination impresses Wendy

Ethicalsuperstore

Conservative Parliamentary Spokesperson for Tynemouth, Wendy Morton, has pledged her support to Ethicalsuperstore.com, based in the region, following a visit as part of her backing for Fair Trade.

Ethical Superstore sells products from leading ethical brands as well as supporting products from independent traders and producers, including products sourced from fair trade suppliers in over 40 countries. In order for a product or brand to be sold by Ethical Superstore, it must have established ethical credentials in at least one of the following areas - Fair Trade; Organic; Eco Friendly; Health and Wellness promotion; Education and awareness building.

Wendy was accompanied by Conservative MP for North Essex, Bernard Jenkin, who was visiting the North East. Together they met with Ethical Superstore's co-founders Andy Redfern and Vic Morgan. After the visit Wendy said "As a Conservative I support Fairtrade. Developing Countries need aid but they also need economic development, trade and skills to lift them out of poverty. That's why I believe Fairtrade is important.

"I was really impressed by the vast range of Fairtrade and ethical products at the Ethical Superstore. They have everything from groceries, to gadgets, to gifts. What struck me most was the innovation and imagination behind many of the products. For example handbags made from recycled juice packets, and beer glasses made from recycled bottles.

"Visiting a place like this really does provide food for thought."
