Wendy made a return visit to the Seafood Training Centre in North Shields recently, accompanied by Nick Herbert MP, Shadow Minister for the Environment. They were joined by Martin Callanan MEP and Cllr Linda Arkley our Mayoral Candidate for North Tyneside.
Wendy was keen to highlight the importance that fishing still has to the local economy, as well as to the culture and heritage of the Quayside and today’s tourism industry.
After the visit Wendy said “Developing skills for the future is vital and gives much greater chance of employment within the industry. It is good that we have the Centre right here on our doorstep. It has so much to offer - from skills in seamanship to cookery courses.”
During the tour of the Seafood Training Centre Nick and Wendy were shown the fish filleting area and the training kitchen and also met students who were studying basic seamanship.
